You’ve decided to join an online dating service and if you’re a Christian, that may mean choosing a specific Christian online dating service. This will be the case if your religious beliefs are a major part of your life.

Christian dating services will have specific rules and guidelines, making it more of a possibility to find a match who is also Christian. You may be surprised at some of the “teasers” that people mark their introductions with. While some may proclaim their faith in the first or second sentence, this does not guarantee that they are who they say they are. You will find that many dating services are run by one company that just puts an extra word in front, such as Christian Dating Service, Jewish Dating Service, etc. There are services that are truly designed for each individual group interest; just throwing the word Christian in front of dating service does not make it a Christian dating service.

Here are some tips to help you choose a good dating service:

• Look for statements by the administrators, not just the applicants.
• Note your initial reaction to the site. Was it pleasant, interesting and modest? A lot can be said about initial impressions.
• What do the ads look like? Are there interesting photos and posts? Is there something odd about the posts? For example, is everyone there beautiful and attractive? If so, beware. Not everyone in life is beautiful, so why would all of the beautiful Christians congregate there?
• Know your expectations before you register. Know what (or who) you are looking for.

Only you know the type of person you are looking for, and you are not obligated to join any dating service.
