Jewish Dating

Finding someone with similar values

If you find yourself dating again in your golden years, you may feel your options are limited. It can be tough to find someone who is like-minded, fit and single. Throw into the mix shared religious and cultural background, and the field seem to narrow still further.

Jewish dating services specialize in Jewish matchmaking for any age. They can be particularly helpful to older or newly single people, who are feeling vulnerable or insecure about re-entering the dating scene. While traditional brick-and mortar matchmaking services still exist, most dating services these days are online. Not many dating sites catering exclusively to senior dating, but most allow you to specify what age range you are interested in meeting.

If you browse online, you will see many dating sites claiming to be Jewish dating sites. Do some investigating. Many of these services run a generic site and then put words in front to aim at special groups. For instance, a fictitious service may be “Love of My Life Dating Service.” If you investigate further, you could see “Love of My Life Christian Dating Service,” then further down, “Love of My Life Jewish Dating Service.” You get the picture. That is not always a bad thing, but throwing the word “Jewish” in front of “dating service” does not make a website an online Jewish dating service. Of course, it doesn’t mean there aren’t genuine people on there, one of whom may be looking for you.

The important thing is, do your homework. Don’t just jump online and start filling out applications. You need to consider if you want a free online dating service or a service that involves a fee. Again, there is no right or wrong answer. Make your first encounter with browsing online dating services just that; browsing. Go over the guidelines, rules, regulations and what responsibility the administration is willing to accept, if any. These are all important factors in the world of online dating.

Here are some tips to help you find the right dating service for you:

Be safe and build up some sort of a trust with the person you choose before you meet them in person. You can chat online, or talk on the phone until you are ready to meet them. Be wary of the person who insists on meeting immediately. Take your time.
